Job Description
We are looking for an exceptional Research Assistant interested in collaborating with the Department of Health Policy & Management at the Bloomberg School of Public Health, https://publichealth.jhu.edu/, Johns Hopkins University. The researcher will support a variety of research projects, with a core responsibility being leading the development of data cleaning pipelines for analyzing data on pharmaceuticals and administrative claims data. This position will be supported by the Johns Hopkins Drug Access and Affordability Initiativehttps://publichealth.jhu.edu/johns-hopkins-drug-access-and-affordability-initiative. Examples of research projects that the position will support include evaluating the impact and implementation of recent federal drug pricing reform, the out-of-pocket burden of medicines, and the impact of accelerated approval policies.
The candidate will assist the Johns Hopkins Drug Access and Affordability Initiative. Primary responsibility is helping with data management and data analysis.
Other Responsibilities Include
- Assist with data extraction from secondary data sources such as FDA drug databases.
- Conduct literature searches to gather supporting information for papers, presentations, and other materials.
- Help analyze and/or manage research databases with oversight.
- Help with drafting academic manuscripts, under supervision.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in related discipline.
- Additional related experience may substitute for required education, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.
Preferred Qualifications
- Statistical analysis skills (linear and logistic regression, descriptive statistics).
- Knowledge of statistical packages such as STATA or R.
- Knowledge of software such as Microsoft Power Point, Excel, and Word.
- Knowledge of mapping and graphing software such as ARCGIS.
- Good academic writing skills. Full proficiency in English.
- A Bachelor’s degree is required.
- A Master’s degree is preferred.
- Previous experience in secondary data analysis is required.
